People capabilities have to increase in order to improve the processes and sustain the results. Think of behavioural skills like working in teams, fulfilling different roles, taking ownership for actions and cooperating to reach goals. Think also of cognitive skills like the lean and six sigma tools and how and when to apply them. This works best in a setting where they can immediatedly practice their new skills in their own work environment. Though some initial sessions are more efficient in a classroom, we strongly recommend consequtive training on the job by participating in an improvement project. There is no adequate simulation of a real work environment that provides the experience of change on every level. And that experience is what we aim for. After all, improvement is not something you do to people. It’s something you do with people.
